Decorating with antique stained glass panels…

I love to decorate my home using unusual quirky pieces such as salvaged architectural wood carvings and panels, stained glass windows and antique oversized clock faces. I came across this pretty stained glass panel in a huge stack of salvaged windows in a salvage yard in Bath in the UK. I went weak at the knees when I finally pulled it out and saw it properly. I knew I would find a place for it in the house, there was no way I was leaving it behind. (By the way this was before the house was even built!) The frame has a beautiful chalky, chippy patina in a duck egg colour and has such lovely carved detailing. I love the different colours and textures in the glass panels and how the light plays on them. It was part of a door set from an old French manor house – I only wish I could have gotten the door aswell! It found its home sitting above my kitchen sink and I absolutely love it there. I placed a few of my vintage blue bottles above the panel along with my Turkish eye souvenir which all pick out the blue in the panel. I remember unwrapping it when we moved into the house and my boyfriend asked “What on earth are you going to do with a broken window”?! He loves it now :)

Do you like to decorate with salvaged pieces? I would love to hear from you! :)
