It’s all about colour in interior design at the moment and I’m particularly loving the pastel colour palette that’s becoming more and more popular. The colour palette is reminiscent of a mouthwatering box of Laduree macaroons with strawberry pinks, pistachio greens, soft lilacs, pale blues, lemons and mints. These colours can all be used together in a scheme as long as they are kept subtle and soft. Pale grey, crisp white or pale blue are great backdrops for this look.
Yummy Laduree macaroons provide the perfect colour inspiration….
As does Sofia Coppola’s visually delicious 2006 movie Marie Antoinette with Kirsten Dunst about the doomed queen famous for her alleged sweet tooth. Although it got a bit of a clobbering from the film critics it received a well deserved Oscar for Best Costume Design and it’s easy to see why!
Everything in the film looked delicious-from the mouthwatering macaroons and cakes, to the fabulous and outrageous fashion to the magnificent palace interiors at Versailles. The film itself may lack a bit of weight but it offers serious eye candy there’s no doubt!
Here’s a few Marie Antoinette-inspired interiors for inspiration…
Carnival stripes and candyfloss pink chairs create a whimsical look in this dining room..
A more subdued look and perhaps a bit more grown up.. I love this look. Pale chalky blue walls and crisp white floors provide the perfect backdrop for soft lilacs and subtle pistachio green touches.
I love this room. The lilac chaise and the green upholstered chair work in perfect harmony in this room. The pale grey is the perfect backdrop. I love how colour is layered up with the accessories in the room.
This furniture looks good enough to eat!
This is one of the prettiest, girliest kitchen I’ve ever seen. Love every single thing about it!
I had to include this picture purely for that incredible tufted banquette seat!
So, what do you think of the pastel trend? I would love to hear from you as always!
